“Knowledge is like a garden: If it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested” Reckoned as the most favoured destination for the legal education in Maharashtra, DGB Dayanand Law College is one of the most prestigious Institutes commemorating Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and his philosophy of Vedic regeneration. D.G.B Dayanand Law College was established by Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Management Society, New Delhi in June 1964 to cater the educational needs of the people in and around the region of Solapur. The College has successfully completed 61 years of its service. Ever since its inception, the Law College has played an important role in imparting Legal Education in Solapur District. The College provides two Degree Courses of Law and a Post-Graduate Courses viz. 1) Three years LL.B degree course after the graduation and 2) Five year integrated B.A.,LL.B degree course after H.S.C and 3) Two year Post-Graduate course in Law i.e LL.M. The graduate degree course in Law and post graduate course in Law are career oriented. Law College has conducted various State-level Seminars and Workshops by inviting Judges of the High Courts and other Legal Luminaries whose guidance help the Students and faculty to enrich their knowledge. Law College involves Students in extension activities such as N.S.S. and Legal Literacy/Awareness Camps in nearby Villages to conduct Surveys and provide Legal Advice to the needy people. The programmes conducted under N.S.S include HIV/AIDS Awareness, Tree Plantation and Blood Donation Camps etc. Legal Aid Clinic has been functioning since 1989 and is associated with the District Legal Services Authority, Solapur. Law College has an independent and Separate Building. The College is also equipped with Gymnasium; a spacious hall is available for Indoor Games and Cultural Programmes, a Canteen, Library, Common Room for Ladies, Parking places for vehicles. The campus of the College is surrounded by the variety of green trees and plants. Law College Library possess recommended Books of all noted authors, Law Journals, Reports varying from annual, half yearly, quarterly and monthly. The Law Library has a spacious Reading Room to facilitate the Students to pursue their studies and preparing for the examinations.\ Law College always encourages Student community to participate in Cultural Programmes, Extra-curricular activities, Moot Court Competitions etc. The College encourages the meritorious Students by awarding Cash Prizes. The Students Development Committee recommends the maximum utilization of the development fund towards the development activities. The Alumni of the College have been placed in prominent and key posts like, Judges, Social Workers, Counseling Officers, Legal Officers in Public and Private Sectors. College has very rapidly built up its logistics in the wake of IT revolution vis-­a-vis the changing role of Advocates and Attorneys. Our Law College is committed to shape our Students and aims at imparting value based, ethical, legal and moral education to create them as Law abiding Citizens. The Students are taught not only importance of Professional Ethics but value based education. The Students are provided with Guest Lectures of various personalities including Judges, Advocates, Social Workers, Academicians and Police Personnel etc., which helps immensely to the all round development of the Students’ personality. We are publishing ISSN ranked Dayanand Law Journal (DLJ). The contributors of articles to our Journal are Judges, Advocates, Lecturers and other legal luminaries. In order to prevent sexual harassment within the premises of the College, it has established a Cell for preventing these kinds of excesses. The Law College has also constituted a Vigilance Committee for prevention of Ragging in the campus as per the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India. Students are required to attend Lawyers’ Chamber and all Courts including Consumer Forum and Jail visit as a part of curriculum. In totality, our Law College is committed to develop the personality of Students as Advocates, academicians and to contribute to the just and humane Society.
